I am a lover of nature and the beauty of the world around us. I hope my photos bring feelings of peace, wonder, and joy to all who experience them.
I was born in New Jersey, but spent my childhood growing up near Dallas, Texas. For college, I wanted to escape the heat, so I trekked north to Minnesota where I earned my degree in Music Theory and Composition, and where I met my wife, Elena Roggenkamp. After graduating we moved to Western Washington state where we have lived since 2015.
Since then, I have worked in various roles for a major transportation company, starting in car rentals, and now working in fleet management where I help other businesses manage their fleets of company vehicles.
In early 2021, my wife decided to leave her office job to pursue her passion to start her own oil painting business. (https://www.elena-roggenkamp-artist.com) It was a big decision for her to switch her careers, but it has been a wonderful and enlightening experience for the both of us!
Having learned so much from my wife on her self employment journey, I decided I was ready to set out to pursue one of my passions as well: Photography!
I had a similar start in photography as many people my age: disposable cameras from family vacations, with most photos consisting of more accidental fingers blocking the lens than anything else… And then the smartphones came about and brought with them the wonderful camera technologies that currently reside in our pockets every day. The joy I had from phone photography is what convinced me to make the leap in the summer of 2021 and buy a stand alone camera with changeable lenses, a Canon EOS M50 Mark II.
With this camera I have already learned so much and have had such a great time expanding my photography skills, knowledge, and horizons. There is still so much more to learn and improve on for myself as the years move along, and I am excited to see where this journey leads me!
And of course we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without the amazing help of our wonderfully rambunctious 8 pounds of fluff named Jade!
